PAYCHECK GUIDE

Calculate overtime pay and compare it with your payslip

Reviewed 2026-09-08

Overtime becomes easier to check when the rate, hours and multiplier are visible separately. PayCheck AI lets you choose the multiplier that applies to your contract or workplace.

The basic overtime calculation

Multiply overtime hours by the ordinary hourly rate and the applicable overtime multiplier. Add the result to ordinary pay and any allowances for the same pay period.

Why the multiplier is editable

Overtime rules and agreements vary by country, occupation and workplace. The calculator does not assume that one multiplier applies to everyone. Check your contract, collective agreement and local rules before choosing it.

Avoid double-counting hours

Confirm whether the overtime hours are listed in addition to regular hours or already included in the total. Entering the same hours twice creates a misleading estimate.

Compare gross amounts

Use gross pay before tax for the final comparison. Net pay includes tax, deductions and benefits that this calculator does not estimate.

Questions and answers

What does a 1.5 multiplier mean?

It means each overtime hour is estimated at one and a half times the ordinary hourly rate.

Can I use a different overtime rate?

Yes. Choose the multiplier that matches the agreement or rule you have verified.

Does the tool decide whether hours legally count as overtime?

No. It calculates from the figures you provide and does not determine legal entitlement.

Independent estimate only. This page is general information, not legal, tax, payroll or financial advice. Check your agreement and local rules.
