PAYCHECK GUIDE
Calculate hourly pay for one complete pay period
Hourly pay is more than hours multiplied by one rate when the period includes overtime, nights, weekends or other additions. Build the total in clear parts before comparing it with the payslip.
Start with ordinary hours
Use the ordinary paid hours recorded for the pay period and the hourly rate that applies. Exclude unpaid breaks if they are not paid under your arrangement.
Add overtime as a separate category
Enter overtime hours and the verified multiplier separately. This keeps ordinary pay and overtime visible in the result.
Add fixed and variable allowances
Enter the gross total for each allowance category. If an allowance is based on hours, calculate the relevant hours and rate first.
Compare like with like
Compare the estimated gross pay with gross pay for the same period. Do not compare the estimate with the net bank payment.
