timelønn kalkulator
Calculate hourly pay, overtime and allowances with PayCheck AI: a worked example
If you work rotating shifts, it can be hard to test whether your roster, overtime rules and allowances match the gross pay shown on your payslip. This step-by-step timelønn kalkulator walkthrough shows how to enter personal pay settings and Pro allowance rules (night window, weekend, public-holiday allowances, daily/weekly overtime), create a two-week rotation, then run an estimate you can reproduce in PayCheck AI. All numbers below are hypothetical — copy the provided worksheet into PayCheck AI to verify your own gross-pay estimate.
What you’ll need before you start
A hourly base rate (timelønn) or contract hourly figure to enter. In this example we use NOK 225/h as a hypothetical base rate.
The overtime thresholds your workplace uses (daily and weekly). Some workplaces use daily thresholds (e.g., hours over 9/day), some use weekly (e.g., hours over 40/week), or both. PayCheck AI Pro supports daily and weekly overtime thresholds and will track regular and overtime hours.
Allowance rules that apply to night windows, weekends and public holidays. PayCheck AI Pro allows you to set automatic night-window allowances, weekend allowances and public-holiday allowances as a flat amount, per-hour amount or percentage.
A two-week rotation of shifts to model. You’ll enter each shift into PayCheck AI’s calendar builder (individual shifts or a custom day-based rotation).
Step 1 — enter personal pay settings (timelønn kalkulator inputs)
Open PayCheck AI and go to your personal pay settings. Enter your base hourly rate: Base hourly rate = NOK 225.00 (hypothetical).
Set regular hours per day if your employer uses a standard day length (optional for the app). For overtime rules, set your daily overtime threshold = 9 hours/day and weekly overtime threshold = 40 hours/week. In PayCheck AI Pro you can enable both thresholds so the app will flag hours above either limit.
Choose your default pay rounding and whether allowances are applied per shift or per hour. (These are app inputs available when you configure a Pro allowance rule.)
Step 2 — add Pro allowance rules (night, weekend, public-holiday, overtime multipliers)
Night window: Set a night window of 22:00–06:00 and add a night allowance of +25% per hour. In PayCheck AI Pro, choose percentage and enter 25% so the app will add 25% of the base hourly rate to any hour falling inside that window.
Weekend allowance: Define weekend days (Saturday and Sunday). Add a weekend allowance of NOK 30 per hour. In PayCheck AI Pro enter a per-hour flat allowance = NOK 30.
Public-holiday allowance: Add a public-holiday rule that pays +100% (double time) as a percentage. PayCheck AI Pro supports flat, per-hour or percentage rules — choose percentage and set 100% for public holidays.
Overtime multipliers: For this example we will use 1.5× for overtime hours (beyond daily/weekly thresholds). Note: PayCheck AI will track overtime hours based on the thresholds you set; the multiplier is a manual input you apply in your estimate (or configure if the app provides multiplier fields in your Pro settings).
Step 3 — build the two-week rotation (sample shifts you can copy)
Below is a simple two-week rotation of 10 shifts. Copy each shift into PayCheck AI’s calendar builder as individual shifts or use a custom day-based rotation. Times are 24-hour and local time:
Week 1: Mon: 07:00–15:00 (8.0 h) | Tue: 14:00–22:00 (8.0 h) | Wed: 14:00–22:00 (8.0 h) | Thu: OFF | Fri: 22:00–06:00 (8.0 h night) | Sat: 22:00–06:00 (8.0 h night, weekend) | Sun: OFF
Week 2: Mon: 07:00–16:00 (9.0 h) | Tue: 07:00–15:00 (8.0 h) | Wed: 12:00–20:00 (8.0 h) | Thu: OFF | Fri: 22:00–06:00 (8.0 h night, weekend) | Sat: OFF | Sun: OFF
Enter these shifts into PayCheck AI. The app will show total regular and overtime hours for the calendar period if you’ve configured thresholds in Pro.
Step 4 — run the estimate and the manual calculation worksheet
PayCheck AI will estimate gross pay for the calendar period and can export a CSV showing each shift and calculated allowances. Below is a manual worksheet that mirrors what the app will report — use it to verify totals. All values are illustrative; replace with your own base rate and multipliers.
Worksheet: For each shift, break down hours by category (regular, night, weekend, public holiday, overtime). Then apply rates:
Base hourly rate = NOK 225.00
Night allowance = 25% → NOK 56.25 per night hour (225 × 0.25). Weekend allowance = NOK 30.00 per weekend hour. Overtime multiplier = 1.5× base (225 × 1.5 = NOK 337.50 per overtime hour). If a night hour also falls on a weekend, add both allowances to the base rate before overtime is applied (see your agreement for stacking rules).
Worked example calculation (summary totals)
Step-by-step totals for the rotation (hypothetical):
Total worked hours (all shifts): 80.0 h
Of these: Night hours (hours between 22:00–06:00) = 32.0 h; Weekend hours = 16.0 h; Overtime hours (over daily/weekly thresholds) = 6.0 h.
Base pay = 80.0 h × NOK 225.00 = NOK 18,000.00. Night allowance = 32.0 h × NOK 56.25 = NOK 1,800.00. Weekend allowance = 16.0 h × NOK 30.00 = NOK 480.00. Overtime premium = 6.0 h × (NOK 337.50 − NOK 225.00) = 6.0 × NOK 112.50 = NOK 675.00 (the overtime premium is the extra above base already counted). Total gross estimate = base pay + allowances + overtime premium = 18,000 + 1,800 + 480 + 675 = NOK 20,955.00 (hypothetical). Replace these figures with your own when you copy the worksheet into PayCheck AI to compare with the app’s estimate and your payslip.
How PayCheck AI helps and what it doesn’t do
Useful capabilities: PayCheck AI lets you build a shift calendar (individual shifts, common preset rotations or custom day-based rotations), sync schedules across devices, track regular and overtime hours, estimate gross pay and export CSV or ICS. During an active free Pro trial or paid Pro subscription you can configure daily and weekly overtime thresholds and set night-window, weekend and public-holiday allowances as flat, per-hour, or percentage amounts. You can also upload a payslip for one-time AI extraction and compare its gross pay with a selected calendar month after reviewing the figures.
Limits to note: PayCheck AI does not calculate taxes, guarantee payroll accuracy, import directly into payroll software, or perform legal advice. Rules for overtime, stacking allowances and pay calculations vary by country, collective agreement and employer — always check your employment agreement or payroll department if you need official confirmation.
Practical checklist
- Have your base hourly rate (timelønn) ready.
- Decide your daily and weekly overtime thresholds and multipliers.
- Confirm which allowances apply (night window, weekend, public-holiday) and whether they are flat, per-hour or percentage.
- Enter shifts into PayCheck AI’s calendar builder (or use a preset rotation).
- Configure Pro allowance rules and thresholds in PayCheck AI if you have an active Pro trial or subscription.
- Run the estimate and export a CSV to inspect per-shift calculations.
- Compare the app’s estimate with your payslip; upload a payslip for one-time AI extraction if you want to compare figures.
Frequently asked questions
Can PayCheck AI act as a definitive timelønn kalkulator for my payslip?
PayCheck AI estimates gross pay using the inputs and rules you configure, but it does not calculate taxes or guarantee payroll accuracy. Use it as a personal timelønn kalkulator to check estimates and to find discrepancies to discuss with payroll.
How does PayCheck AI handle overlapping allowances (e.g., night + weekend)?
PayCheck AI Pro allows you to set separate rules for night, weekend and public-holiday allowances. How allowances stack depends on the rules you enter and your agreement; in the worked example we manually added both night and weekend allowances to the base rate. Confirm stacking rules with your agreement or employer because practices vary.
Can I copy the example rotation into PayCheck AI?
Yes. Enter the listed shifts into PayCheck AI’s calendar builder as individual shifts or create a custom day-based rotation. The app will then show totals and let you export a CSV to verify the calculations.
Does PayCheck AI support team scheduling and absences?
Yes. Team users can create teams, invite members, view profile names, chat, leave shifts unassigned, request shifts, submit vacation or sick days and let planners approve or reject requests. Personal pay settings, private shift notes and medical details are not shared in the team calendar.
What should I do if the estimate differs from my payslip?
Check your input values (base rate, thresholds, stacking rules) and the exported shift breakdown. You can upload a payslip for one-time AI extraction and compare its gross pay with the selected calendar month to help identify differences, then raise any unresolved discrepancies with payroll.
